About Pristine HOCl

Hypochlorous Acid (HOCl) naturally shows up in your body as a defense system created by white blood cells to attack infection, bacterial and disease. Strong enough to protect you from staph infections and COVID-19, but safe enough to spray into your eye, HOCl optimizes the wound care environment. Shelf-stable for 18-24 months.

“Hypochlorous acid is your body’s natural response to neutralizing bacteria and it is very effective” says dermatologist and Mohs surgeon Dr. Michael Swann.

Pristine Wound utilizes a 2-step approach to wound care. The Pristine Wound Cleanser is a solution for the acute wound or in the immediate post-operative period. The Pristine Wound Hydrogel is used in the subsequent remodeling phase of wound healing and keeps the wound hydrated, protected and clean.

Spray Cleanser

Pristine Wound Cleanser is recommended for initial care of sutured wounds, secondary intention wound care and surgical wounds in locations with higher risk of infection or during the early post-operative period.

Cleanser Spray is utilized twice daily at the time of dressing changes to gently debride the wound before ointment is applied.

This can optimize scar results by maintaining a less acidic wound pH during the early part of healing.

For body locations (after excisions, breast augmentation, tummy tucks) utilize Pristine cleanser spray for 2 weeks. For the face and neck, Pristine cleanser can be utilized for 7 days and then at suture removal, Pristine Hydrogel is recommended.

Pristine does not contain peroxide, steroids, antibiotics or alcohol and does not sting when sprayed on the wound.

Spray Hydrogel

Hydrogels help maintain a moist wound environment, promote granulation and epithelialization, and facilitate autolytic debridement. Pristine Wound is a gentle hydrogel with hypochlorous acid that can be sprayed on the wound to improve barrier and optimize the environment for healing.

“We have had great success with this product after carbon dioxide resurfacing and after Mohs surgery reconstruction or cosmetic surgery. My patients love the elegance of the Hydrogel”, says Dr. Michael Swann, Mohs and Cosmetic surgeon at Swann Dermatology. “Patients who use topical growth factors and peptides also benefit by driving in the products they are utilizing and minimizing irritation in our retinoid patients”

Pristine Hydrogel is recommended for weeks 2-10 after surgery. It is useful long-term for patients who are massaging their scars. In the office, Pristine Hydrogel is an effective prep before and after injectables such as botox and fillers.

My patients are using the cleanser after Mohs or cosmetic procedures for 5 days. The hydrogel can be started immediately after surgery and continued for 8-10 weeks during massage and remodeling. We are seeing pristine healing responses without infection and limited inflammation than we see with traditional wound care.
